a frantastic world book

a frantastic world: a book of explorations
This is a book of explorations / experiments that I conducted because I found each of their topics to be interesting. I also wanted to learn more about them and also to see what kind of results I would get. Almost every experiments that I did I got something from it. Most of the time it was incite about something, or the realization that not everything happens like you plan it. Below are a few spreads from the book that I really enjoyed.

Here is a link to buy the book on blurb:

Survey

With this exploration I wanted to gather more information that has to do with behavioral patterns. So I made up questions that had to do with possible patterns that people encountered.

There was 21 people that completed the survey, here are the results.

What I got from the results:
after looking over the results I got what I was looking for. Some of the results where different from what I had expected them to be. After thinking about the survey I realized that we have store loyalty because we have brand loyalty and vice versa. We shop at certain stores because we know they carry the product we want.

Book Thoughts

So the book… my topic for my book is patterns. Not just man made patterns, but patterns that are found in nature i.e leaves, honey cones etc. Migration patterns of animals, behavioral and speech patterns and accidental patterns (ones that just happen without planning).

The View Finder

For this exploration i cut a view finder out of a piece of paper and when around taking pictures of things. when i was taking the pictures i tried to crop the subject as much as possible to make it harder to tell what it was. Because not everything in life is how it seems.

Miniature Ecosystem

For this exploration i collected water from 3 different locations: the ocean, rain water, and water from the sink. I placed the jars in a sunny window for 3 weeks and watched what happened. Now as you can see nothing really changed other then some condensation on the sides but that's about it.

finally some condensation

Travel History

For this exploration i needed to collect objects that tell a story of my travels. This past weekend I went to Orlando as a last hurrah before I had to turn my car in. So here are some of the things that i picked up along the way.

Found Faces

For this exploration you had to go around and document naturally occurring face that I came across in my daily travels. When I was going around looking for faces I found it so much easier to find then when I wasn't looking for them, and I feel like those where the ones that are the most successful.

Here are the faces that I found. But I know there are so many more that are out there still to be found.

Makin Connections

For my first exploration I did number one, right where you are sitting. I picked this because I figured it would be fun to look and see all the things that I had not noticed when I sat down.

Here are some form connections that I had made. Lots of patterns.

why not just say no to the mouse?

Right Where You Are Sitting

For this exploration you needed to write down 10 things that you didn't notice when you sat down. When I did this exploration I was sitting in the lab at a computer that I sit at most of the time. So I was a bit worried that it was going to be hard to find things that I have never noticed before; but it wasn't.
